Senior Structural Engineer

Role & Responsibilities

As a key member of the project team, the Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Design Review and Verification: Review, verify, and sign off on structural design drawings, calculations, and specifications, ensuring full compliance with applicable international and local standards.

  • Construction Supervision: Provide senior leadership and oversight of all structural works, including foundations, reinforced concrete structures, and steel structures.

  • Quality Control & Assurance: Implement and enforce robust QA/QC procedures to ensure construction works and materials meet the highest quality standards.

  • Technical Problem Solving: Provide timely, clear, and authoritative technical guidance to resolve structural issues and design clashes during construction.

  • Reporting & Coordination: Prepare detailed technical reports and progress updates, and liaise effectively with the Project Manager, consultants, and international stakeholders.

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all project health, safety, and environmental regulations within the structural scope of works.

Essential Requirements

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognised institution.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant post-qualification experience in structural engineering.

    • Mandatory: Proven experience on large-scale projects such as airports, resort developments, or major hotel infrastructure works.

    • Design Codes & Standards: Strong proficiency in international and local structural design standards, particularly for reinforced concrete and steel structures.

    • Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of structural analysis and design software, with the ability to review and validate complex engineering solutions.

    • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage site teams and operate effectively in a multicultural, high-pressure environment.

    • Eligibility: Willingness and ability to relocate and work in the Maldives.
