Practicing Lawyer

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as in-house legal counsel for HARIM Group and all subsidiaries

  • Provide independent legal advice to senior management and the Board on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and risk matters

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalise contracts, agreements, MOUs, NDAs, and transactional documents

  • Ensure full compliance with Maldivian laws, regulations, and statutory obligations across all operations

  • Lead corporate governance matters, including board resolutions, filings, and regulatory submissions

  • Represent the Group in dealings with regulators, authorities, counterparties, and external legal counsel

  • Advise on employment, labour, disciplinary, and termination matters

  • Support major projects (hospitality, construction, real estate, marine, and investments) with legal due diligence and risk mitigation

  • Manage disputes, claims, and litigation in coordination with external counsel

  • Proactively identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or Shari’ah & Law

  • Fully qualified and licensed to practise law in the Maldives

  • In good standing with the relevant legal authority

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience as a practising lawyer

  • Demonstrated experience providing independent legal advice (not limited to administrative or support functions)

Required Skills & Professional Competencies

  • Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and advisory capability

  • Sound professional judgment and confidence in taking legal responsibility

  • Deep working knowledge of Maldivian corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory law

  • Ability to engage credibly with senior leadership, boards, regulators, and external stakeholders

  • High level of discretion, integrity, and ethical judgment

  • Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced, high-stakes environments

  • Clear, precise written and verbal communication skills

  • Commercial awareness and business-aligned legal thinking

Preferred Experience

  • Prior in-house counsel experience within a group structure

  • Exposure to construction, infrastructure development and investment projects

  • Experience working with international partners, consultants, or financiers
